Funeral Home-abstract
Joan Strong, age 85 of St. Paris passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2011 in 
the Mercy Memorial Hospital, Urbana. Born on November 27, 1926 in Champaign 
County, Joan was the daughter of the late Charles Harrison “Bob” and Flossie 
(Glick) Jordan. She married Samuel J. Strong on March 14, 1947 and he preceded 
her in death on February 2, 1973. She is survived by a son,and a daughter. 
Joan was a loving grandmother to five grandchildren: 2 step grandsons: and 14 
great grandchildren: and one great great grandchild, In addition to her 
parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son, Michael Strong, a 
brother, Jim Jordan, and sisters Emma Lyons and Mary Reese. Joan was graduate 
of Christiansburg-Jackson High School and retired from Grimes in Urbana. She 
loved watching basketball and baseball, and enjoyed eating out. She loved her 
family and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great 
grandchildren. Private graveside funeral services will be held at the 
convenience of the family in Evergreen Cemetery, St. Paris with Reverend Dr. 
James VanZile of the First Baptist Church, St. Paris presiding. Atkins-Shively 
Funeral Home is serving the family. In lieu of flowers condolences to the 
family may be sent to Alzheimer’s Association, Central Ohio Chapter, 1379 
Dublin Road, Columbus, Ohio 43215
