He was born in Amanda on Sept. 3, 1934, a son of the late Charles H. and Beulah Kerr Strupper. He also was preceded in death by his first wife, Irene Lyle Strupper; his stepmother, Jean Strupper Chambers; a stepson, Don Lyle; and a sister, Mae Smith. Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Hanes Ziegler Strupper of Indian Lake; stepfather, Heil Chambers of Delaware; a daughter, Karen (David) Cockrell of Circleville; three stepsons, Rodney (Jo Ellen) Ziegler of Marysville and Jack Rice and Steve Rice; a daughter-in-law, Janet Lyle of Oak Hill; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother, Ed (Ruth) Strupper of Delaware; a sister, Pam (Ray) Krauss of Delaware; a stepbrother, Guy Strupper; and several nieces and nephews. In 1996, he retired from O.M. Scotts in Marysville, following 35 years of service in their maintenance department, and was a member of Scotts’ Twenty Year Club. He was a member of the Indian Lake Church of the Nazarene and was a weekly volunteer in the church’s food pantry. He also worked once a month with the church’s Our Daily Bread ministry. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he was a lifetime member of Marysville VFW Post 3320. He also was affiliated with the former Mid-State Radio Association with the handle of “Easy Money” and especially enjoyed fishing and talking with friends on the CB. The Rev. Timothy Johnson conducts a funeral at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mannasmith Funeral Home, Marysville, where calling is two hours prior. Following cremation, a private family burial with military honors conducted by the Union County Honor Guard is in Oakdale Cemetery.
