The St. Paris News Dispatch
William Thackery, son of John and Elizabeth Thackery, a well known resident of 
Jackson Twp, was born October 17, 1832, and passed away January 23, 1910, at 
his home near Newson Chapel Sunday. He was 77 years, 8 months, 6 days old at 
the time of his death. He married Sarah E Tomlin February 14, 1856, she died 
April 4, 1906. William came from a family of nine children, all of whom were 
born in England except William, and he was born in Jackson Twp, OH. He served 
in Co I, 134th OVI. He leaves 5 children, Joseph N Thackery of Wichita, KS, 
Mrs Timothy Wones, Miss Emma Thackery, Robert L Thackery and Mrs Norley 
Evilsizor, ten grandchildren, one brother Henry of Pendleton, IN, one sister, 
Mrs Hester Richmond of Yorktown, IN. The funeral services were at Newson 
Chapel Church Tuesday, Rev Hamilton White in charge.
