Born on December 17,1921 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Mildred grew up in Piqua, OH, graduating from Piqua High School in 1939 and subsequently Miami Jacobs Business College of Dayton, OH. During WWII she worked at Wright Field and the Mound, and for Piqua Wood Shovel following the war. On October 16,1947 she married Raymond Traylor and in 1956 they moved to St. Paris and started "The Booster," a weekly advertiser. She was also the proprietor of "Traylor's Clothing Store" in St. Paris for many years. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, on November 29,1995. She is survived by four children and their spouses; Deborah R. (Traylor) and Tim Ray of Troy, Peggy L. (Traylor) and William Bowers of The Villages, FL, Kurt E. and Susan Traylor of Rosewood, and Lisa L. y (Traylor) and Mike Conley of Urbana. She was a loving grandmother to 10 grandchildren: Jackie Dickson, Molly Traylor, Emily Freyhof, Josef Freyhof, Mark Traylor, Zach Traylor, Steve Traylor, Karodie Organ, Nolan Conley and Jessamine Conley, and 12 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her mother and step father, Lois Ramona (Burt) Emert and Elmer C. Emert of Piqua, a great grandson, Noah Michael Woomer in 2009, a brother and a sister. Mildred was a member of the St. Paris United Methodist Church since 1957 where she participated in United Methodist Women and the Friendship Class. Mildred was a former member of the St. Paris Antique Club, the Urbana Soroptimist Club, St. Paris Business Association, and was a 4-H leader for many years with sewing clubs. Mildred was a champion of the Graham Local Schools, serving on several bond levy committees and assisting with the start up of the first private kindergarten in St. Paris before the public schools instituted that grade level. Mildred often served as a designer and seamstress for the Graham High School musicals and plays. Mildred believed in education, community, and her family. She will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her friendly smile and loving nature. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 7, 2011 at 11 a.m. in the Atkins-Shively Funeral Home, 216 S. Springfield Street, St. Paris, Ohio with Reverend Dave Kepple presiding. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday in the funeral home.
