Benjamin E.“Benny” Veness, age 32 of Lakeview died at 11:05 pm Wednesday March 
10,2010
He was born on November 24, 1977 in Amherst, OH to Stephen & Glenda (Smith) 
Veness. His mother and step father Matt Runkle survive in Urbana and his 
father and step mother, Libby Veness 
survive in Sabina.
Other survivors include a brother Jeremiah “Miah” Runkle, Raleigh NC, 2 
sisters Barbara “Barbie” 
(Shane) Jenks, St. Paris, Sarah Veness, Cincinnati, maternal grandmother, 
Louise Smith, Middlesboro, KY, paternal grandparents, Donald & Barbara Veness, 
Saint Petersburg, Ohio, Step grandfather Roger Runkle, Urbana, step 
grandmother Rebecca Runkle, Urbana, 5 uncles, Jeff (Janet) 
Veness, Matt (Carol) Veness, Todd (Debbie) Veness, Rev. Don Smith, Floyd 
Smith, an Aunt Kelly (Duane) Miller, cousins, nieces, and his loving pets, 
Matilda & Zoe. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Garrett 
Smith.

Benny was a member of the Waynesfield Baptist Church, a 1996 graduate of 
Graham High School, and had attended Embry Riddle Aeronotical University.  He 
was a bartender at the Lakeview Moose Lodge #1533 where he was also a member. 
Other memberships included the Delta Chi Fraternity and Lakeview Eagles Club. 
He loved fishing, golfing, and boating.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00 am Tuesday, March 16, at Waynesfield 
Baptist Church with Pastor Rob White officiating. Burial will follow at 
Rosedale Cemetery.
