He was born on June 21, 1913 in Sycamore, the son of Jerome and Ada (Rutherford) Wickham, both deceased. Mr. Wickham was a 1931 graduate of Sycamore High School and served in the United States Army during World War II. After graduating from Cleveland College of Embalming, he worked for the Sanders Funeral Home, Richwood, for four years before coming to Saint Paris in 1946 to work for Bert Richeson. Four years later he purchased the Richeson Funeral Home, currently the Richeson-Wickham and Atkins Funeral Home. He provided a valuable service to the families and community of Saint Paris until 1974 when the funeral home was purchased by John Atkins. Lowell met Ruth Davidson in Saint Paris where they were married on May 23, 1942. They enjoyed 59 years of marriage until her passing on April 6, 2001. He was a member of the Saint Paris United Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge, the Saint Paris Lions Club, the Kiser Lake Sailing Club, Keith Cretors Post No. 148 of the American Legion, Saint Paris, where he served as the first World War II commander, and was a past member of the Ohio State Patrol Auxiliary. Professional memberships include the Ohio Funeral Directors Association and the National Funeral Directors Association. Mr. Wickham was on the board of directors of the First Central National Bank, Saint Paris, for 46 years, having served as chairman of the board for 31 years; had served on the Saint Paris Town Council; and was a partner in Parisan Homes Corporation. Survivors include one daughter, Sally (Ralph) Prince of Saint Paris; two grandsons, Aaron Prince of Beavercreek and Shawn Prince of Austin, Texas; sister-in-law, Helen Wickham of Columbus; nephew, Glen (Janice) Wickham and her daughter Rachel of Upper Sandusky; brother-in- law, William (Rose Marie) Davidson of Hudson, Fla.; niece, Mary Louise (Bruce) Colwell of Seattle, Wash.; and nephew, William (Lisa) Davidson, Jr. of New Port Richey, Fla. In addition to his parents and wife, Lowell was preceded in death by one infant son and two brothers, Gerald and Verl Wickham. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14 in the Richeson-Wickham and Atkins Funeral Home, 216 S. Springfield St., Saint Paris, with the Rev. Douglas Upton from the Saint Paris United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery, Saint Paris. Visitation for family and friends will be from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13 in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to either the donor's favorite charity, the Saint Paris United Methodist Church, or the Saint Paris Lions Club. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
