Winks, 79, of St. Paris, passed away at 2:50 p.m. Friday, April 24, 2009, in his residence. He was born March 5,1930, in Fletcher, the son of the late Arthur and Rose (Rupert) Winks. He married Martha Lewis on Aug. 25, 1951, and she survives. He also is survived by three children and their spouses, Joyce and Kenneth Deal of Piqua, Dean and Karen Winks of Piqua and Pam and Douglas Cook of Houston. Harold was a loving grandfather of six grandchildren, Brian (Lisa) Deal, Josh (Laura) Deal and Becky Deal, all of Piqua, Deana (David) Steele and Rob Winks, both of Piqua, and Brandy (Elwyn) Bailey of Franklin. He enjoyed spending time with his seven great-grandchildren. Additional survivors include one brother, Bill Winks of Indiana; three sisters, Katherine (Richard) Ray of Springfield, Margaret Kline of Gallipolis and Marty Thornsberry of Michigan; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry and Tom, and one sister, Alice Bixler. Harold enjoyed working on antique cars with his many friends from the Champaign Cruisers. He liked meeting the guys for coffee in the mornings and he was an avid golfer. Harold attended St. Paris School and he was retired from Globe Tool and Engineering in Huber Heights. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Atkins-Shively Funeral Home, 216 S. Springfield St., St. Paris, with Pastor Paul Baker of the St. Paris Church of the Nazarene presiding. Burial will follow in Spring Grove Cemetery, North Heck Hill Road, St. Paris. Visitation for family and friends will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Mercy Hospice, 1343 N.
