Dorothy "Dottie" (Ferree) Yocom, age 86, passed away on Aug. 2, 2006 at 
Otterbein Retirement Community, Lebanon, Ohio after several years of declining 
health. 

Dorothy was the wife of Rev. Don R. Yocom, and the mother of four children; 
She was a retired nurse, and was well known for mission work in the West Ohio 
Methodist Conference and loved to travel, sew and cook. 

Dorothy was born on Aug. 28, 1919, in Chadron, Neb., the daughter of Lora and 
Nellie Ferree and sister to Sheldon, Lester, Ivan, Kenneth, Betty, Nina and 
Thomas. After graduating from Sidney High School, she graduated from Taylor 
University (1941) and Bethesda School of Nursing in Cincinnati (1944). Don and 
Dorothy were married on Feb. 11, 1945 in Sidney. While raising her children 
and during Rev. Don's ministry, Dorothy worked tirelessly to inform and teach 
church members about the need for mission work. Don and Dorothy traveled and 
supported several different mission projects in Bangladesh, Haiti, Redbird 
Mission in Kentucky and with the local communities and churches they served. 
Don and Dorothy have been living at Otterbein Retirement Community in Lebanon 
for 10 years. Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 7, 
2006, at WALTER-SCHOEDINGER FUNERAL HOME in Urbana with services at the 
Westville United Methodist Church on Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. with 
viewing one hour before the funeral. The Rev. Charles Hill and the Rev. Alice 
Kay Hoover will officiate. Burial will follow in Concord Cemetery
