LANDESS, 85, of Springfield, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 15, 2013 at Springfield Regional Medical Center. He was born in Springfield on November 21, 1927, the son of A.D. and Cora (Watkins) Landess. Don proudly served his country in the U.S. Army at the conclusion of WWII. He retired from Ohio Edison. He was a life-long member of Central Christian Church an and gave many hours caring for the church gardens as well as any tasks needed. Don was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Survivors include Roxanne Swope of Marysville, Ohio and Christina Swope of Springfield; grandchildren, Tim (Cherie) Snow, Tocia (Eric) Holland, Tonia (Tom) Parkhurst, Craig (Donna) Fifer Jr., Bradley (Angie) McDaniel, Ryan McDaniel, Megan Overbey Overbey, and Joe (Melissa) Kunkel; and great-grandchildren, Erika Holland, Nick Holland, David Hanson, Steve McDonald, Elena Snow, Brionna Fifer, Jenna Fifer, Ashlyn McDaniel, Colyn, Evelyn, Nolan, Adaylin, Ellie, and Jack McDaniel, Brody and Carson Overbey, and Mikayla and Chloe Kunkel; his dear grand dogs, Katie and Hercules; and grand cat, Mommy. Also surviving are two brothers, Dick (Shirley) Landess and Larry (Cindy) Landess; and many nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 41 years, until she was chosen to be with the Lord in Heaven, Rosalie; daughter, Kaizan; and two br brothers, Jack and Robert. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, July 17th from 5-8 p. p.m. in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME. A celebration of Don's life will be he held on Thursday, July 18th at 11:00 a.m. at Central Christian Church with vi visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor Warren Banks will preside over th the service. Burial with military honors will follow in Glen Haven Memorial Ga Gardens.
