Raymond Cortland LEFFEL, a former resident of McCloud, died October 8, 2001, at Heartland of Springfield in Springfield, OH. He was 88. He was born October 22, 1912, in Springfield, Ohio to Edward LEFFE;L and Clara (POPE) LEFFEL. Raymond retired after 35 years of service as a ranger with the Forest Service. He was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society, Montezuma Indian School in Cottonwood, AZ, Indian School in Gallup, NM, and the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Hot Springs Village, AR. He enjoyed reading poetry. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Elizabeth; three children, Donna JORDON of Hot Springs, AR. Marty PEARSON, of Boise, ID, and Raymond LEFFEL, Jr., Belen, NM; three brothers, Victor LEFFEL and Jesse LEFFEL both of Springfield, and Paul LEFFEL of Fairborn, OH; a sister, Ruth WILDERMUTH of Springfield; 25 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers, Forest, Pearl, Billy, Phil, Glen and Gail. A memorial service was held October 14th at Conroy Funeral Home in Springfield, OH with Reverend Richard Cartwright officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Montezuma Indian School, PO Box 428, Cottonwood, AZ 86326.
