May Matthews Dies at Age 50, Rites Thursday

    Mrs. Mary W. Matthews, 50, of 2500 Signal Hill Rd. died at 8:12 pm Monday 
in University Hospital, Columbus, following several years of illness.
    Mrs. Matthews was born Oct. 8, 1911, in Springfield, a daughter of Fred M. 
and Florence Stafford Wallace.  She had been a Springfield resident all of her 
life and was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church.
    Survivors include her husband, Thomas A; a son, Thomas A., III, at home; a 
daughter, Mary Bonser Matthews, at home; her mother, Mrs. Florence S. Wallace 
of Springfield and two nieces.
    Her body was brought to the Jackson-Lytle funeral home and will be taken to 
the residence Wednesday afternoon where friends may call.  Services will be 
held at 11 am. Thursday in the residence with the Rev. Richard Waugh, associate 
pastor of Covenant Presbyterian Church, officiating.  Burial will be in the 
Ferncliff Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ridgewood School building fund.
