(Ben) Swope, 38, advertising salesman for the Springfield Daily N News and Sun, died unexpectedly at 11:20 p.m. Wednesday in University H Hospital, Columbus. Mr. Swope, who resided at 238 Delcourt dr. with his wife, Rosalie and three daughters, had suffered from a knee condition for years. Members of the family said he had undergone the third operation on the knee Tuesday and was apparently recovering. Cause of death was not definitely known but may have been a "post-operative blood clot." The family added Mr. Swope's right knee had been weak for many years and fo four years ago he injured it badly playing badminton. Tuesday' operation was de described as "serious." Mr. Swope attended Kenwood Elementary School, Hayward Junior High School a and South High School. He had been employed by the Springfield Daily News and S Sun since 1943. Mr. Swope's' funeral is to be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Alfred K. Woods Funeral Home with burial in Ferncliff Cemetery. Friends may call after 7 7 p.m. Thursday. Mr. Swope was born in Springfield Aug. 23, 1925, and lived in the city all his life. He was the son of William J. and Elta M. Menz Swope. He is survived by his widow, three daughters, Kayzan, Roxzan and Christina; his mo mother, of Springfield and two brothers, William E. of Springfield and Daniel B. B. of Dayton.
