N. Summers, a former chief justice of the Ohio Supreme Court, died at 8 a.m. Friday at her residence, 1212 E. High st. Her death followed a brief illness. Mrs. Summers was a member of the Covenant Presbyterian Church, the Woman’s Town Club and the Springfield Country Club, of which her husband had been president from 1919 to 1925 inclusive. During the active hears of her life, Mrs. Summers had been a leader and participant in numbrous local affairs of a civic, social and philanthropic nature. Mrs. Summers was a daughter of the late Mr. And Mrs. John H. Thomas, pioneer Springfield residents. Survivors include two sons, Thomas B. Summers of Washington, D.C., and Daniel Summers of Toledo, O.; a daughter, Mrs. Henry Beckley; a grandson, Addison s. Beckley; a sister, Mrs. Lewis P. Matthews, and a nephew, Thomas A. Matthews, all of Springfield. Funeral services will be held at the residence at 2 p.m. Saturday, in charge of the Rev. Dr. Ross Miller, pastor of the Covenant Church. Burial will be made in the family lot in Ferncliff Cemetery.
