Mr. Summers, a retired executive of the U. S. Rubber Co., was a graduate of the Lawrenceville School of Trenton, M. J., and of Yale University. In 1922 he won the Springfield Amateur Golf Championship, the first played in Springfield. He left Springfield in the middle twenties to enter the employ of the Goodyear Rubber Co. Mr. Summers served as an officer in the artillery during World War I. He was a member of the Springfield Country Club and of the Covenant Presbyterian Church. He was born in Springfield Oct. 1, 1888, the son of Judge and Mrs. A. N. Summers. His maternal grandparents were Mr. And Mrs. John H. Thomas, pioneer Springfield residents and manufacturers. Survivors are one brother, Daniel Summers of Toledo; his sister, Mrs. Beckley of Springfield, and a nephew of New York City. His body was taken to the Richards Memorial Home for services at 3 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in the J. H. Thomas plot in Ferncliff Cemetery. Friends are requested to omit flowers.
