Gertrude E Tipton, 89, of Springfield passed away Sunday, December 20, 1998 at 
9:55 am in Community Hospital. She was born in Pleasant Grove, Ohio on February 
16, 1909 the daughter of George Audrey and Clara Ethel (Cultice) Hull. She was 
a member of the Fletcher Chapel United Methodist Church where she was active 
with the church’s Women’s Society. She was a volunteer at Community Hospital 
for some years. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, David and 
Terry Tipton of Cincinnati, Ohio and  Richard and Pam Tipton of Centerville, 
Ohio; one daughter, Janice Brubaker of South Charleston; and one daughter-in-
law, Betty Tipton of Springfield; two brothers, Owen and Robert Hull, both of 
Springfield; ten grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and two great-
great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, French G Tipton 
on March 8, 1983; also by son-in-law, Angus Brubaker; one son: Jerry Tipton; 
three brothers: Orville, Anson and Roger Hull; one sister, Donna Zischler. 
Family will receive friends on Monday from 5-8 pm in the Jackson Lytle Ingling 
Williams Funeral Home, North Limestone Chapel where funeral services will be 
held on Tuesday at 1 pm with Rev Carol Layton officiating. Burial will follow 
in Rose Hill Burial Park. Contributions can be made to Fletcher Chapel United 
Methodist Church in her memory.
