The board of directors of the Mad River National bank, of which Mr. Thomas had been president for nineteen years and a director for thirty years, met in regular session Tuesday forenoon and adopted resolutions testifying to the great loss sustained by the bank in the death of Mr. Thomas. The resolutions adopted and certified to the family by Cashier Charles F. Harrison follow: “The officers and directors of the Mad River National bank have this day heard with profound regret of the death of W. S. Thomas. “William S. Thomas was born April 22, 1857, and came from one of the oldest families in Clark county. Immediately after completing his education, he identified himself with the Thomas Manufacturing company of this city of which institution he was the president at the time of his death, and to his business ability and integrity in a large measure is due the prominent position of that company in the manufacturing world. “Mr. Thomas was for many years a director of the Mad River National bank of Springfield, Ohio, and for the last nineteen years served as its president. His high character, broad experience, sound business judgment and conscientious attention to the duties of that office made his service one of inestimable value to this institution and won for him the confidence, respect and esteem of all connected with it and of its many patrons. “Be it resolved, therefore, by the board of directors of the Mad River National bank of Springfield, Ohio: “That in the death of W. S. Thomas the bank has lost a loyal and capable officer; “That all connected with it in an official capacity, as well as its patrons, have lost a friend whose wise counsel and unfailing courtesy will be greatly missed; “That the memory of this splendid service and his high business ideals will remain as a standard for future emulation in the community in which he lived; “That to his family in its bereavement we extend our sincerest sympathy; “That this resolution be spread upon the minutes of the board and a copy be given to the family of Mr. Thomas.” President George W.
