She was born September 13, 1925 in Richmond, Indiana, the daughter of George A. and Leota (Hosbrook) Peters. Mrs. Walters was a 1947 graduate of Capital University, was a member of the Varsity "C", and was an ongoing supporter of their Alumni Association. She began her teaching career in Etna, Ohio and retired after twenty years of teaching in Springfield Public Schools. Mrs. Walters was a former member of Wittenberg Women's Guild and a former member and instructor at the Young Women's Christian Association. As a longtime active member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, she was also Past-President of the Women of the Church and women's missions. She served as board member of The Southern Ohio Synod Council E.L.C.A. and the Mad River Conference. Mrs. Walters also was a member of the School Marms Bowling League. She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Stephanie and Craig Miller of Farmington Hills, Michigan, Sue and William Wolford of Worthington, Ohio, Stacey Walters of Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Scott Walters of Gahanna, Ohio, Steve and Barbara Walters of Powell, Ohio, Sam Walters of Columbus, Ohio; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Robert Koontz of Farmington Hills, Michigan; two brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Myrna Peters, George and Carolyn Peters, all of Richmond, Indiana; grandchildren, Michelle Miller and Traci Miller, both of Farmington Hills, Andrew, Margaret, and Jacquelyn Wolford, Bogey and Bitsey, all of Worthington, Erin and Wesley Walters of Powell; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Paul "Bucky" Walters. A gathering of family and friends will be held by The Littleton & Rue Funeral Home, Springfield Thursday from 4-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church Friday at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor William Schwochow officiating. Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery.
