It is on the land where William Buchanan made a clearing and settled in 1795.It is said that the family gave the land for the cemetery.Many names of the old settlers can be found;one,Alexander Buchanan - Ohio Revolutionary War M.B.1813. At this grave site is a small fieldstone with the date 1805. The church was erected in 1872 as the Clavary M.E. Methodist Church.
