Ross.. Just came across your 1870 census data on Best Genforem listing
Christian as a tanner.  In the History of Columbiana Co. Ohio, it
mentions that "the settlement of Franklin Square was laid out by
Frederick Best, a subsequent purchaser.  He carried on an extensive
tannery in the early days of the settlement"  He was also postmaster
there in 1834.
