The county borders the state of Pennsylvania about 20 miles south of Youngstown. It is a productive area with mineral resources including, coal, clay and limestone. Lisbon, the second oldest town in Ohio, is the county seat of Columbiana. The Ohio, Patriot, one of the first newspapers established in the state was published here. Principle industries include; machinery, stone-clay-glass, metals, printing and publishing, furniture, clay tile, pottery and metal household furniture. Dairy products are the agricultural industry.
