The fifth annual reunion of the Dawson family which was held at the park Wednesday, was pronounced by leading members as the most successful and pleasant that this prominent family has ever held. Fully 500 members and family connections of the family were present from points in Ohio, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania. A large number of the party have their homes in East Liverpool, and neighboring towns, but representative members from points as far south as New Orleans and as far west as Chicago were numbered with those present. Miss Maude Hamilton, of Brooklyn, NY was a guest of special honor. After an elegant dinner the party adjourned to the pavilion where the organization for the coming year was perfected. J.H. Dawson, of East Liverpool, was elected president; William Dawson, of Smiths Ferry, vice president, and Harry J. Boyd, of Beaver, secretary and treasurer. The afternoon and evening were spent in renewing acquaintances, and the popular sports and amusements, dancing being the principal feature of the evening. It was decided to hold a reunion in 1903, the time and place to be fixed by the executive committee. Eight deaths were reported as having taken place within the past year, the most recent having been Mrs. G.W. Dawson, of Beaver, who died on Tuesday. A gloom was cast over the reunion by reason of her death. The oldest family connection present was James McKall, who at one time was first mate on the famous river steamer, Great Republic. Mr. McKall is 82 years old and is a noted river man. At a late hour Wednesday evening the last member of the party left the park, wishing that the family might enjoy many more pleasant and happy reunions.
