He had been ill since last September from stomach trouble, which was not of a serious turn until lately. Mr. McLain was born Feb. 23, 1841, in Harrison County, Ohio. In 1863 he was wedded to Miss Margaret Barker, who, with seven children, survive him. They are: Mrs. Lyda Boggs, Geneva, Ohio; Mrs. Mary Douglas, Toledo, Ohio; Thomas and William McLain, Beaver Falls, PA; Mrs. Charles McLain, Mrs. Emily Dale and Mrs. Margaret Wilson, Wellsville. The deceased had studied for the ministry and started to preach when the civil war commenced. He enlisted in company D, 124 Ohio volunteers, and served for over three years, holding the rank of corporal. He was a faithful adherent of the Methodist faith. Funeral services will be conduced from the John Dennis residence a 1 pm Friday, interment in Spring Hill cemetery.
