Mr. Mast was one of the oldest citizens of this place and one who has always been straightforward, honest and upright, having in his life won the esteem of all who knew him. He was an unflinching Democrat; born at Vonbrum, state of Wurtemburg, Germany; served as body guard to King William, of Wurtenburg; was promoted to Second Lieutenant in German army; came to the United States in 1832; came to East Liverpool in 1838; was a charter member of Riddle lodge and East Liverpool chapter. Funeral will take place Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock, after which the remains will be laid to rest in Riverview cemetery. Five children survive him – Mrs. Thomas Blackmore, Mrs. Mary Manley, Mrs. Rev. J.C. Ogle, Owattona, Minn.; Jennie Dixon, Sierra Madre, Cal.; Fred Mast of Hartford, Conn.
