Benjamin Dawson, a well-known and respected citizen of Smiths Ferry, died at 
9:15 Friday evening at his home after an illness of two weeks with pneumonia, 
which developed from an attack of grip. Mr. Dawson was a farmer most of his 
life. He owned considerable property in and near Smiths Ferry. A wife and 
several children are left. Deceased was over 70 years old. The funeral will 
take place at 10 o’clock Monday morning; interment in Georgetown cemetery.
