McLain, a well known resident of that place. The unfortunate girl was engaged in hanging a picture on the wall, above an open grate, and was standing on a chair to do so, when her clothing caught fire. She was alone in the upstairs room of the house when this occurred and her screams brought Mrs. William Dawson, a neighbor, in the house. She met Miss Florence at the head of the stairway enveloped in flames. She at once dashed forward and endeavored to smother the flames, but before she could do so the fatal beast of the fire had reached the lungs of its victim. Mrs. Dawson severely burned her arms and face in her heroic attempt to quench the flames. The young lady lingered in agony from 7 o’clock until 4:30 this morning when death ended her sufferings. Her funeral will take place tomorrow afternoon, interment being in the Calcutta U.P. church cemetery. Deceased was about 18 years of age and well known in this city. She had just finished her education to become a music teacher, and was beloved an admired by all who knew her. This file has been created by a form at http://www.poppet.org/ohfiles/ File size: 1.7 Kb
