Died near Calcutta, Ohio, on the 15th of December, 1863, Mrs. Jane Wood, in the 86th
year of her age. She was born East of the Mountains, but removed to Pittsburgh at an
early day. Her husband died in Pittsburgh, and soon afterwards she removed to the
country. She first made a profession of religion in the Union church of Hanover, but
afterwards became connected with the Old School Presbyterian church at Calcutta,
Ohio. She loved God, his Word, his Sabbath, and his sanctuary. She was gathered home
as a shock of corn fully ripe. She lived with her son-in-law, Thomas Moore, during
the last thirty-three years.
