Asher, 663 East Canal st. Newcomerstown, died suddenly from a heart attack while painting the roof at his home this morning. His body was discovered on the roof by his wife when she went to call him for lunch at 12:15. The Newcomerstown fire department emergency squad was called but efforts to revive the victim were futile. He was born Jan. 18, 1877, in Tuscarawas county, a son of Henry and Amanda Stewart Asher. On June 23, 1904, he was married to Forest Kees, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Lester Opphile, Cleveland and Mrs. Delbert Combs of Akron, a brother, Playford Asher, Guernsey; a sister, Mrs. Emma Morris, Fresno Calif. and three grandchildren. Preceding him in death were 4 brothers and 2 sisters. The body was removed to the Bonnell funeral home. Services will be held Thursday. Burial will be in the State street cemetery.
