Hammersley, died at 3:30 p.m. yesterday at her home, 442 Chestnut st., Newcomerstown after 10 years illness with complications. She was 70. Maggie Sarchet was born near Oldham Station, Guernsey county, on Aug. 17, 1870, the daughter of Simon P. and Sarah Elizabeth Sarchet and was married Feb. 6, 1889 to Mr. Hammersley who survives. She also leaves four sons, Isaac A., Thomas E. and Carl A. Hammersley, all of Newcomerstown and Russell S., whose address is unknown; two daughters, Mrs. Abner Howell, West Lafayette and Mrs. Fred Widder, Newcomerstown; 17 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and three brothers. Mrs. Hammersley was a lifelong member of the Baptist church. She also belonged to the Rural Neighbors of America and Frees Rebekah Lodge. Short services will be held at 2:15 Wednesday at the home, with additional rites at 2:30 at the Newcomerstown Baptist church in charge of the Rev. N. D. Cunningham, Otsego. Burial will be made in West Lawn Cemetery.
