Harstine, 96, formerly of North Kirk Street, died at 6:15 a.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2006, at Beckett House in New Concord. Born Sept. 15, 1909, at Birds Run in Guernsey County, she was the daughter of the late Russell Raymond and Laura Mae (Nelson) Little. A graduate of Muskingum College, she taught in a one-room school at Union Hill School. During World War II, she was an employee of Heller Tool in Newcomerstown. A member of the West Lafayette United Methodist Church, she enjoyed crocheting, knitting and gardening. On June 19, 1929, she married Homer Clifford Harstine, who preceded her in death Sept. 29, 1990. Surviving are a son, Jack T. (Wanda) Harstine of Wilson, N. C.; two daughters, Sandra L. Harstine of New Concord and Kay S. (Chuck) Denhardt of Newark; eight grandchilren; 12 great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law Edythe Harstine of Glendale, Ariz. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Donald A. Harstine; a brother, Willis; and two infant sisters. Graveside services will be held at noon Friday, April 21, 2006, at Fairfield Cemetery in West Lafayette, with the Rev. James H, Woodring officiating.
