Howell, 79, of 401 E. Union Ave., West Lafayette, died Wednesday at 9 p.m. at County Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. She was born Nov. 3, 1892 in Guernsey County, the daughter of Alva and Margaret Sarchet Hammersley. She was married Jan. 12, 1910 to Abner Howell who survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Joe (Rhuema) Van Dusen, West Lafayette; three brothers, I. S. Hammersley, Newcomerstown and Russell Hammerlsey and Carl Hammersley, both address unknown. One daughter, one brother, and one sister are deceased. She was a member of the West Lafayette United Methodist Church and a 50-year member of the Falathia Rebekah Lodge. She was a past noble grand of the lodge and was presently serving as treasurer. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Bonnell-O'Neill Funeral Home, West Lafayette with the Rev. Wayne Harmon officiating. Burial will be in Fairfield Cemetery, West Lafayette. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and until time of services on Saturday. Rebekah Lodge will hold rites at the funeral home at 7 p.m. Friday.
