Coshocton Tribune February 12, 1942 Injuries Fatal to Hardesty Operator of Mine Dies at Hospital John Alva Hardesty of Fresno Route 1, 61-year old mine operator, died at 3:45 a.m. today at city hospital from injuries suffered Tuesday in an accident at the Hardesty and Son mine on Coshocton Route 1. He suffered fractures of both legs when a mine roof caved in on him. Mr. Hardesty was born at Wakatomika Dec. 13, 1880, a son of Edmond and Sara Jane Hardesty. He was married Dec. 21, 1901 to Florence Pepper of Conesville who survives. Also surviving are five sons, Alfred of Fresno, William of West Lafayette Route 1, Telford of Coshocton Route 1, Clifford and David, both of the home; three daughters, Mrs. William Everhart of Stone Creek, Mrs. William Lint of West Lafayette and Vesta of the home; 13 grandchildren, and two brothers, Henry and Noah Hardesty both of Conesville. A daughter, Sara Jane preceded him in death. Funeral services will be at the Branch Methodist church at 2 p.m. Sunday. Rev. C. D. Firster and Rev. Glenroy Shoup will be in charge and burial will be in the Branch cemetery.
