The Canton Repository January 25, 1979
Russell R. "Pop" Owens, age 85, 4537 Marcellus Ave., NW, died Wednesday morning
in Timken Mercy Hospital, after a three-month illness.  Born in West Lafayette,
Ohio, he came to Canton in 1925.  He was a retired employee of the Arcade Market
and had been employed by the former Canton Stamping and Enameling Co.  Active in
bowling circles for 50 years, he bowled in the Old Timer's League at Embassy
Lanes in November 1978.  He was a member of Dueber United Methodist Church and
Faithful Men's Bible Class.  Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Nell E. Owens of
the home, to whom he was married 64 years on April 9, 1978; two son,s Paul M.
Owens of Navarre, Ohio and Jack R. Owens of Warren R. I.; nine grandchildren and
great-granddaughter.  A daughter, Mrs. Marilyn Barr preceded him in death. 
Services will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. in the Reed Funeral Home with Rev.
W. A. Amerson officiating.  Burial in West Lafayette.  Calling hours at the
funeral home Thursday (Today) 7-9 p.m.
