Nell E. "Mom" Owens, age 99, of Canton, OH, passed away Tuesday morning in
Timken Mercy Medical Center following an extended illness.  Born near Cambridge,
OH, in Guernsey Co. on December 4, 1894, she was the daughter of the late Edward
and Agnes Howell.  She had been a resident of Canton since 1925 and was a former
employee of the Stark Dry Goods in Canton and Schumachers Restaurant in Canton.
 She and her husband, Russell had been avid bowlers in the Canton area, known to
many as Mom and Pop Owens.  She continued to bowl until the age of 84.  She was
a member of Dueber United Methodist Church in Canton.  She was preceded in death
by her parents, two infant sons, two sisters, four brothers, her daughter,
Marilyn Barr in 1972, son Paul Owens in 1989 and her husband, Russell Owens who
passed away in 1979.  Survivors include her son, Jack Owens of Warren, R. I.;
five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.  Funeral services will be
conducted Friday at 11 a.m. in the Reed Funeral Home with Rev. Chester Harris
officiating.  Burial will be in the Fairfield Cemetery in West Lafayette, OH. 
Calling hours at the funeral home on Thursday 7-9 p.m.
