"Ollie" Tiedt, 83, of Coshocton, died at 3:40 p.m. Friday, Nov. 12, 2004, at his home. Born March 20, 1921, he is the son of the late Julius H. and Agnes F. (Weaver) Tiedt. He served as a private in the U.S. Army during World War II from Nov. 3, 1943, to May 15, 1946, with overseas duty in Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe where he was awarded three bronze stars. A coal miner, he was employed in mines in Coshocton and Alabama. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1330, American Legion Post 65, Eagles Lodge and United Mine Workers Local 1794, District 20. On May 16, 1964, he married Joyce Ann Addy, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Suzanne (Terry) Valentine of Circleville, and Becky (Don) Fletcher of Columbus; two stepsons, Glenn Smith and Vaughn (Dorothy) Smith, both of Coshocton; 11 grandchildren, Dawn, Clarissa, Lynagnes, Nickola, Michael Paul, Donald Paul, Samantha, Rebecca, Emily, Abby and Paul Ivan; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Edgar Tiedt of Coshocton; a brother-in-law, Bill Addy of Portage, Ind.; a sister-in-law, Margaret Bechtol of Coshocton; and many family members and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Tiedt; and a brother, William Tiedt. Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10:30 a.m. today, at Sacred Heart Church, with Father Homer Blubaugh officiating. Interment will follow at Coshocton County Memory Gardens.
