O. Tiro: was born in Richland Co. June 28, 1826. His parents, Isaac and Nancy (George) Hilborn were both natives of Pennsylvania. The father was born Aug. 11, 1798, and the mother was born May 22, 1801. They were the parents of nine children - Robert, Samuel, Amos, William, Elizabeth, Isabella, John and Sarah. Polly, Elizabeth, Amos and Isabella are dead. The father died April 30, 1865, and the mother April 17, 1841. Mr. Hilborn was one of the early settlers of Auburn Township, and more will be said about him elsewhere in this work. Samuel received a good common-school education when young. At the age of 1 7, he commence learning the blacksmith trade, which he followed for a number of years. He is at present one of Auburn Township's most intelligent and prosperous farmers. He was married Jan. 31, 1850, to Elizabeth Irwin, and by her has the following family: Isaac N., deceased, Lodema, deceased, Zella, Ellsworth and Charles. Zella is the wife of James Michener, and lives in Auburn Township. Ellsworth and Charles are single, and live at home with their parents.
