Quaintance, living in Holmes. He was born in Steubenville, Jefferson Co., OH on 8/31/1828, son of Fisher and Sarah Ivey Quaintance. Fisher and Sarah had 10 children: Ann, widow of Henry Peasely in Ada, OH; Eli P., who farmed in Holmes and is deceased; Susanna, wife of John Talbott is also dead; Hannah died in childhood; Ira died in Newton, Iowa; Dawson lives in Putnam Co, OH; Joseph W. the subject; Charles and George, twins, George being dead and Charles living in Bluffton, Allen Co., OH.; Sarah Jane is also dead. Fisher was born in Cumberland Co., PA on Oct. 12, 1793, son of Joseph and Susanna Quaintance of German Ancestry, who moved to Jefferson Co., OH when Fisher was young. Fisher moved with his parents, wife and 6 children in 1829 to Crawford Co., OH, Holmes Township. Fisher died in 1866. Sarah Irey Quaintance was a native of Loudoun Co., VA, born on Jan. 25, 1792, daughter of Philip and Hannah Irey, a second cousin of John Brown.
