Six ribs were broken and head badly cut. He made his home with his son James Eicher in Bucyrus until a few months ago. He was returning by train from a visit to his son when he was hit. After leaving the train he did not see the freight train and due to being very hard of hearing did not hear the frantic blowing of the train whistle. He will be 96 next month.
