Highland av., a member of the Akron Police Department 23 years, died today in City Hospital after a long illness. Nolan and his wife, Anne, a native of Ireland, went to Ireland last Summer on an extended visit. He had not been in good health at the time of the trip, and had not been well much of the time since his return. He suffered from a heart ailment. Recently he returned to work, but a week ago he became seriously ill and was hospitalized. Born in Galion, O. Nolan lived in Kent and Cuyahoga Falls before coming to Akron in 1913. NOLAN FIRST worked on traffic and later was a motorcycle officer. He had been on various beats and cruiser assignments. For more than five years he had been jailer. He was a member of the Moose Club and St. Vincent Church and was a Fourth- Degree member of Knights of Columbus. Besides his wife Nolan leaves fours sons, Gaylord, and Akron policeman, Walter, an Akron fireman, Frank Jr. of Stow and Willis of Akron, and a daughter Mrs. Charles Hughes of Cuyahoga Falls.
