Word came up town last Friday just as we went to press, announc- ing the death of Mr. John Gray, one of the oldest residents of Mid- dleburg township. He has lived for many years in what is known as the Gray settlement, three miles north of Berea. The funeral was held on Sunday at the school house in that neigh- borhood, conducted by Rev. Frank Williams of Avon. The burial occurred at Woodvale cemetery. Thus one by one, the first settlers of this town pass from sight and join the great majority on the oth- er shore. John Gray was born in Euclid, O., April 21, 1822. He was nine yrs. old when he came with his father's family to Rockport, and subse- quently to Middleburg. He was married April 4, 1847 to Sophronia Greenough. Of thirteen children, eight grew up and are all still liv- ing, namely: Albert, Helen, Lovina, Mabel, John M., Emma, Merritt and Arthur. ==== OH-FOOTSTEPS Mailing List ====
