I, Joseph Hodgson, an alien, and a native of England, being duly sworn according to law, declare and say, that I first arrived in the United States on the 12 day of July A.D. 1885; that it is bona fide my intention to become a citizen of the United States, and to renounce forever all allegiance and fidelity to any Foreign Prince, Potentate, State or Sovereignty, whatever, and particularly all allegiance and fidelity to Victoria Queen of whom I am a subject, so help me God. The State of OHio, Cuyahoga County, in the Matter of the Application of Joseph Hodgson for Admission to Citizenship of the United States of America. Now comes Joseph Hodgson and respectfully represents to the court that he is an alien, and a subject of England; that he was born, on or about the 18 day of Apr. 1855, at the ___ of ___ in England; that he first arrived in the United States on or about the 12 day of July 1885; that on the 6 day of Apr 1895 he duly declared his intention to become a citizen of the United States of America, the certificate of such declaration being hereto attached, marked Exhibit "A," and made a part hereof now on file in this Court ans being that he has never borne any hereditary title, or been of any of the orders of nobility in the country from which he came; that he has never been confined in any penal institution of this State, or any of the United States, under sentence of any Court therein; that he is a man of good moral character, attached to the principles of the Constitution of the United States, and well disposed to the good order and happiness of same; that he is by occupation a Forman and now resides at 176 Franklin Av Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio. Wherefore, Your petitioner prays, that on the final hearing of this petition he may be admitted to all the rights and privileges of a naturalized citizen of the United States.
