Miller 1926 GEORGE MILLER, JR. George Miller, Jr., son of George Miller, Sr., and Catherine Miller, was a native of Pennsylvania, being born in York County April 11, 1816. He departed this life March 12, 1898, aged 81 years, 11 months, 1 day. When nine years of age his father died. At the age of 16 years, 1832, he with his mother and the rest of her family came to Ohio and located in Preble county. Being reared on a farm he remained at home assisting in the duties of the farm until he grew to manhood. As the lives of the early settlers were those of constant exertion for subsistance, his educational advantages were necessarily very limited. About the age of 21 he started out in life for himself and worked at the carpenter trade one year. After this he went to Darke county (same state) and located about two and one half miles southwest of Palestine in the Warner neighborhood. On Dec,. 28, 1839 he united in marriage with Catherine Warner and moved on a farm owned by John Warner and later bought this same farm and remained here until his death. He was the father of 19 children. They were all born on the same farm or homestead. Mr. Miller was married three times. His first marriage was blessed with two children, both of whom died in infancy. He was bereft of his wife in 1842. His second marriage was on June 1, 1845, to Caroline Boomershine. In 1858 he was called upon the second time to mourn the loss of an affectionate wife. He united in marriage the third time with Barbara Bollinger April 24, 1859 who died Oct. 8, 1921, aged 86 yrs, 9 mo., 2 days. Brother Miller united with the German Baptist or Church of the Brethren in 1858 during which time he lived a devoted and consecrated life in the church serving as a deacon for many years. He was active in church up to within a few years of his death. In his marriage with Caroline Boomershine, they were blessed with six children.
