That I became acquainted with Silas Lappon early in 1861. I know that he was troubled with chronic diarrhea from the date of his discharge from the Army up to the date of his death, which occured about 29 Dec 1870 from chronic diarrhoea and resulting paralysis. I know from my own personal knowledge that neither parties were never married previous to their marriage to each other. I was present at the birth of their son, William W. Lappon, which occured 28 Apr 1866. I write this affidavit with my own hand. 24 Mar 1896 - Affidavit. In the matter of Widow of Silas Lappan, Co. B, 110th Regt. Ohio. Martha A. But after being discharged about 26 Feb 1863, he joined a Company of 100 day men at Beamsville, Darke Co. Ohio in May 1864 and went to Camp Dennison. He was rejected and returned home in about one week. Cannot remember on what grounds he was rejected. 26 Feb 1896 - General Affidavit of James R. Wilkinson, in the matter of Pension claim of Henry McNutt. James R. Wilkinson aged 64, P.O. Winfield, Cowley Co. Kansas. This is to certify that I, James R. Wilkinson, formally of Arcanum, Ohio, now of Winfield, Cowley Co. Kansas, was a private in Co. "C", 11th Ohio Infantry and Sargent of Co. "K" in 34th Regt. Ohio Infantry and consolidated with the 35th Ohio Infantry. I have known said applicant, Henry McNutt, since childhood, was raised as boys together. Knew him to be a strong healthy boy even to manhood. In 1856 he then about 23 years of age moved to Kansas. I saw him no more until 1864 in Cumberland, Virginia, then a soldier in the State Militia of what is known as the Hundred Day men. I don't remember the No. of Regt. I seen no more of him until 1875 in Kansas and been with him more of less since. I noticed then he was not the able bodied man he had been when I last seen him. As for his ailments, I cannot testify how, when or where they were contacted. And as I am no Physician, I cannot testify to his ailments of present, but I do know that he is not able to perform day labor for support. He can do some very light work as he has to do as it is his only means of support. I know this statement to be true by living near him and seeing him at work. This is my own hand writing. James R.
