CATHARINE LINDEMUTH The oldest pioneer lady in the county has passed to the "great beyond". Mrs. Catharine Lindemuth, nee Henning, wife of John Lindemuth, (deceased), was born in Montgomery county, Ohio, April 17, 1810 and died at the home of her son, John Lindemuth, west of Greenville, at 2:45 o'clock Tuesday morning, January 26th. 1909, of old age. The deceased, with her husband, came to Darke county in 1840 and has lived on the farm where she resided ever since. She was a most estimable pioneer lady and highly respected. When they took possession of the farm west of Greenville, there was but five acres of timber cut off, yet in the sixty-nine years she has resided upon it, she saw it improved well and saw her family grow up to manhood and womanhood. She saw a generation grow up and pass away. She was baptized in infancy and during her youth united with the Evangelical Lutheran Church and remained true and faithful member until death. She has fought the battle of life alone for thirty years past, when her husband preceded her to the world beyond. She leaves to mourn her loss several children; three sons and four daughters; three children having preceded her in death. She is also survived by 34 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren, besides a host of relatives and friends. The surviving members of the family are Mrs. Elizabeth Wagner, Mrs. Susannah Harp, Mr. William Lindemuth, Mrs. Catharine Russ, Mrs. Louisa Enochs of Marion, Indiana, John Lindemuth and Josiah Lindemuth. Funeral was held from the Dininger Church Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Benzine, pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church. Interment in the Dininger Cemetery. CARD OF THANKS The entire family desire to thank the friends and neighbors for their assistance during the sickness and death of their dear mother; also to the Board of Health and Trustees for their floral contributions and to the choir who rendered such excellent services. ------- NOTES: Mrs. Catharine (Henning) Lindemuth, daughter of Jacob & Catharine Henning.
