Died, on the 3d inst., in this township, WILLIAM SPEARS, Esq., aged 80 years. Mr. SPEARS was one of the pioneers. He purchased the farm on which he has since resided, in the spring of 1817, and removed his family in the Autumn of the same year. He was born in York county, Pa. At the age of 21, he removed to the State of New York, where he married and continued to reside till he removed hither. The Presbyterian church in Penfield, N. Y., and that in Milan, were both organized in his house. He was the last survivor of the original members of the church in Milan. As a private Christian and an officer in the church, it is believed he had the confidence of all. He possessed a warm heart, was liberal in his charities and had unbounded hospitality. These traits of character were prominent in him to the last. Death was met by him with great composure through faith in Christ. We have rarely seen a greater concourse at a funeral, than was at his. The discourse, by Rev. E. JUDSON, was particularly adapted to the occasion, giving a concise view of the life and character of the deceased, and commending them, as examples to others. Sandusky Clarion Tuesday April 13, 1847 DIED In Milan township, on the 3d instant, Wm. SPEARS, Esq. aged 80 years. He had resided there for 30 years, was well known and much respected.
