Photo can be seen at: http://www.usgwarchives.net/oh/fairfield/photos/haaspete2108ph.jpg Image file size: 90.2 Kb The Haas-Peters Cemetery is located on Amanda Northern Road, Amanda Township, Fairfield County. It is .3 of a mile south of State Route 188 on the western side of Amanda Northern Road. The cemetery sits atop a hill, and in May was not visible from the roadway. Possibly in winter with a clearer view it may be. There is a gravel drive that leads to a private residence, but the owner of the property was very congenial and talked of many who have visited the cemetery. With permission to park at the foot of the hill, the cemetery is accessible by a hiking trail that is very wide. The trees have grown up around the cemetery making it very pleasant, but also making it a haven for mosquitoes (go prepared) and increasing the moss coverage on many of the stones making them illegible. The property owner told me the cemetery is mowed about twice a year; one time in particular is preceding Memorial Day. The Fairfield County Genealogical Society lists 62 internments in this cemetery. I found 34 legible and photographed them. I found 24 stones that were either totally illegible either because they were down, partially buried, moss deteriorated, or weathered beyond reading.
