Knecht of Lancaster, Ohio being of sound mind and memory do make and publish this my last will and testament FIRST It is my will that all my just debts be paid together with the cost of erecting at the grave of myself and wife a suitable monument the cost not to exceed one hundred dollars. SECOND I give and devise to by beloved wife Catharine Knecht my entire estate both real and personal for and during the period of her natural life or so long as she remains my widow; At the death or remarriage of my said wife, it is my will that whatever remains of my estate both real and personal shall go to my son John F. Knecht for his use and benefit forever, with the admonition however, that he treat my son Charles C. with kindness and consideration as becomes a brother to the end that he may render him aid in case he shall deem it proper to do so at the option of my said son John F. Knecht. THIRD I give and devise to my said son Charles C. Knecht the sum of Five ($5.00) dollars to be paid to him by my executor herein after named as soon after my death as my be, This device to my said son Charles C. is in addition to the sum of about Three Hundred dollars which I was heretofore obliged to pay for him. FOURTH I give and devise to my grandson Lewis W. Knecht my gold watch and chain together with my silver watch and chain formerly belonging to his great grandfather Lewis Knecht for his own use and benefit forever. FIFTH I hereby direct and authorize my executor herein after named to purchase a suitable burial lot in Forest Rose Cemetery and pay for the same out of my estate. SIXTH I hereby nominate and appoint my son John F. Knecht executor of this my last will and testament hereby authorizing and empowering him to compromise release and adjust the claims due me in such manner as he may deem best. In case my said Executor shall deem it necessary for the support and comfort of my said wife, I hereby authorize and empower him to sell at public or private sale any part of my estate. I desire that my said son John F. shall act as such Executor without bond. In testimony hereof I have hereunto set my hand this 18 day of December A.D. 1914 Lewis C.
