He served from July 20 to October 4, 1812 in Capt. Henry Brush Co. Chillicothe, Aug 24, 1812, Peter Brown, private enlisted service July 20 to August 24, 1812. Index to War of 1812 Pensions: Peter Brown and Elizabeth Bateman WC5390 married 16 Feb 1815 in Ross County, Ohio. Soldier died March 8, 1858 Fayette County, Ohio. Widow Died about 1875. Soldier served in Henry Brush's Rutledge & Lloyds Co. Ohio Militia. Widow also lived in Wyandotte County, Kansas. Pension Office June 6, 1873 Elizabeth Brown claimed a widow pension #10062 General Black, Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri. Jackson County, Missouri: Elizabeth Brown moved there from Ohio. She lived in Wyandotte County, Kansas and filed for widows pension on June 17, 1873. She never remarried. Bounty Land Claim of Fayette County, Ohio dated Feb 1, 1851. Peter Brown, age 61, a private said he surrendered a prisoner of war in the stipulation at the River Region. He and others made their escape on Aug 16, 1812 and returned home on May 10, 1813. He again volunteered as a private in Capt Rutledge Company, Ohio Militia to go to the relief of Fort ?Nuigs? and served 20 days. He further states that he was drafted on July 15, 1813 and served as a private in the Company commanded by Capt Soyd in the regiment Commanded by Col John Mc Donald of Ohio Militia and served 20 days. Dated Feb 21, 1851 Pension of Elizabeth Brown: State of Missouri, County of Jackson on this 29th day of April 1873, WH Windship, Clerk of the Criminal Court of Jackson County, MO, a duly authorized officer of a court of record in and for the country and state aforesaid, Mrs Elizabeth Brown, aged 78 years, who being duly sworn according to law, makes the following declaration in order to obtain the pensions to widows of dead soldiers of the War of 1812, that she is the widow of Peter Brown at Chillicothe, Ohio by Capt Henry Brush said war and afterward enlisted again in the company commanded by Capt Williams in the War of 1812, who died in Fayette County, Ohio on the 8th day of March 1858 after discharge from said service and of disease not contracted in said service, she was married under the name of Elizabeth Bateman to said Peter Brown on the 16th day of Feb 1815 by Rev Saicel Monett of the County of Ross and State of Ohio. She appoints Geo. A Black of Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri, her attorney, she lives in Wyandotte County, Kansas Post Office address is Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri in care of E.O. BROWN. The State of Ohio Fayette County On this 22nd day of March 1855 personally appeared before me a Justice of the Peace in and for the said county of Fayette, Peter Brown aged 65 years, a resident of Fayette County, in the State of Ohio. Who being duly sworn according to the law declares that he is the identical Peter Brown who was a private in the company commanded by Capt Henry Brush in this Regiment, Ohio Militia commanded by Col John Mc Donald. The War with Great Britain declared by the United States on the 18th day of June 1812 and continued in said war at three different times (as will appear from his former application now on file at the proper department in the office of interior at Washington, to which reference for the several terms of service is hereby made) for more than fourteen days. that he has heretofor made application for bounty land under the act of September 28, 1850 and received a land warrant # ---- for forty acres, which he has since legally dispensed of and cannot now return nor can he give the number thereof. He makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining this additional bounty land to which he may be entitled under the act approved 3 March 1855. he also declares that he has never applied for nor received under this or any other act of congress any bounty land warrant except the one above mentioned. signed by Peter BROWN The State of Missouri the County of Jackson Peter Brown, said husband of Mrs Elizabeth Brown of Wyandotte County, Kansas who is claimant for widow pension under act of Feb 14, 1871 #10.062 - , died on or about the 8th of March 1858 in the county of Fayette and the State of Ohio and that said Elizabeth Brown has not remarried but has remained a widow ever since the death of her said husband. They further swear that at the time of the late rebellion against the authority of the United States did she - the said Elizabeth Brown - or her husband adhere to the cause of the enemies of the government giving them aid or comfort or exercise the functions of any office whatever under any authority aforestated authority in hostility to the United States. We have personal knowledge of the facts and personal acquaintance with the said claimant for 35 years and with her husband for 25 years before his death - signed E O BROWN and John Robinson June 17, 1873. 29 April 1873 Mrs. Elizabeth Brown age 78 widow of Peter Brown who enlisted at Chillicothe, Ohio in Capt Henry Brush and Capt William Rutledge in the War of 1812. Peter Brown died on the 8th of March 1858 after discharge from the said service and of disease not contracted in said service.
