                                LUCILLE SMALLWOOD
     LUCILLE SMALLWOOD, 68, of Washington C.H., passed away on Thursday, 
October 2, 2003 at her daughter's residence in Wilmington where she had 
resided the last three weeks.  She was born on July 16, 1935 in Washington 
C.H. to JOHN SMITH and VIOLA (DOZER) SMITH.  She was a member of Grace 
Community Church.
     In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, JACK E. 
SMALLWOOD JR.; brothers, ROBERT, JERRY, and OAT SMITH and by one sister, 
JUANITA LANMAN.
     Mrs. Smallwood is survived by her husband, JACK SMALLWOOD of Washington 
C.H., one son, STEVE (LEE) SMALLWOOD of Washington C.H., one daughter,   
SHARON COKONOUGHER    of Wilmington; grandchildren, JEFF and KYLE SMALLWOOD 
and CHAD and RYAN HARTLEY; brothers, GERALD SMITH of Tucson, Ariz., CARL SMITH 
of Washington C.H., JOHN SMITH of Good Hope and by one sister, ROXIE CARSON of 
Washington C.H.
     Funeral services for Mrs. Smallwood will be held on Monday, October 6, 
2003 at 1 p.m. in the Wellman-Kinzer Funeral Home with burial to follow in the 
Washington Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, 2-6 p.m.
     Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
