                          MARGARET R. SMITH.
     MARGARET R. SMITH, 67, … died at 12:50 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, 1996 at 
Courthouse Manor.
     She was born May 1, 1929 in Joliet, Ill., the daughter of RUEBEN 
GOCHANOUR and LUELLA GOCHANOUR.  She lived most of her life in the 
Jeffersonville area.  She worked for many years as a cashier at Stop 35 
Truckstop.
     Her husband, LESTER H. (LECK) SMITH, preceded her in death.  She was also 
preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, EDNA and RUBY JENKINS and a 
great-granddaughter, CARRIE RUTH TRUBEE.
     She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, ROGER and JANIE COLAW of 
Havelock, N.C.,  TERRY and BECKY SMITH of Jeffersonville and STEPHEN and PAM 
SMITH of Jamestown; stepson and daughter-in-law, RONALD and MARGARET SMITH of 
Fairborn; daughter and son-in-law, BARBARA and LARRY CAMPBELL of 
Jeffersonville; brother, MERL and NANCY JENKINS of Jeffersonville; sisters, 
LETA JENKINS of London, LEONA and WENDELL HUNT of Washington C.H. and CAROL 
and FEROL LEWIS of Bloomingburg; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; 
two step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren and one step-great-
grandchild.
     The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 16, 1996 at the 
Morrow Funeral Home in Jeffersonville.  Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.  
Visitation will be Thursday at 2-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
