I have some news for you. I found what might be your family at Canal Winchester, Ohio, in the book, "History of Madison Township. Canal Winchester and Groveport, Ohio." This out of print book has been reprinted in the last five years and a family member of the author may have extra copies to sell if I can locate his address. Author is George Baries. Date is 1902 at Columbus, Ohio. I paid $48 for my original book but it is well worth that price but reprints would be priced lower, I would think. Regarding Kinsel/Kinsell: the spelling is found both ways in the text for the same man, "John." In a brief read of the pages, I found that John Kissel was not a farmer but a merchant. He had first a small store in the town of Canal Winchester and later, a larger store. He later turned the store into a very lucrative drinking establishment. In the chapter dated, 1870 to 1880 is this: "Kissel & Brown, agricultural implements." Also," John Kissel, saloon (Hole in the Wall)". In the part dated 1880-1860 there is "John Kissell, carpenter." From 1830 to 1850 there is no mention of Kissel/Kissell. I did not check the entire book and there is no index and lots of names on each page. I did scan the cemetery index and found no Kinsel/Kinsell. Could the letter "n" have been changed by the family later? Hope this helps? Louise Keller Schlaff ==== OHFRANKL Mailing List ====
